SMASH

There is a huge trend in scrapbooking right now called Smash Books.

They are remarkably like something called a Junque Journal. You can see a GREAT example of a Junque Journal done by Bernice HERE.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge posted a Smash Book Challenge and I was so intrigued by the ideas and the video that I had to try it. PS, if you are going to try this, you have to take a look at the video tutorials...it makes it SOOOO easy!

So...

Here is my version:

I decided that I wanted to use my Bind-It-All, but not have exposed wires, so I made a cover for it. My cover is 6" X 9" with a one inch binding.

Its held together on the outside with a strip of Dear Lizzy adhesive fabric paper.

After I had it all together, I used some old Basic Grey monograms as letter templates to trace around, and filled them with watercolor paint for the front cover.

I also used Dear Lizzy adhesive fabric paper on the inside to hold the binding together. I used the backing chipboard from some stacks of paper for my dividers.

My inside pages are 8 1/2" by 5" and there are four sections: Inspire, Sketch, Note and Random. My Inspire section is filled with paper from the On A Whimsy collection that Jackie Eckles designed for Fancy Pants in 2009...its super cute and I've had it hanging around my studio for some time...perfect for this kind of project. You can also see a Fancy Pants journal tag tucked in there.

I've got some tags and transparencies mixed into this.

There are also some pockets from Lil Davis Designs - another oldie-but-goodie hanging around my studio.

My Sketch section has some envelopes and blank paper for doodling and sketching.

And the Note section has some notebook paper with lines on the front and grid on the back, cut to size.

My final Random section has pages that I downloaded from HERE.

It was an awesome challenge to make this book to fit my needs and use things I already had sitting around my studio. I believe I'll be making more of these, as I have a couple of friends who would appreciate a custom smash book.

Peace, ya'll!
