Five Question Friday

Its time for Five Question Friday.

Here we go:

1. Is there something you've always wanted to try but just can't muster up the courage to actually do yet? hmmmm....not really...maybe scuba diving? But that is more a matter of time and money than courage. I've actually done the one thing that most people say they fear more than death - public speaking, and in my case public singing, and LOOOOOVVVVEEEEDDDD it! I have no qualms about getting up in front of people. I get those pre-event jitters, but never full fear. The things I'm really scared to do - like sky diving - I have no secret urge to try...I'm just not interested.

2. If you had $100 handed to you in cash without your significant other knowing about it, what would you spend it on? Scrapbooking Supplies, recharging my Starbucks card, clothes or shoes...ok...really...I'd probably buy something for the kids.

3. What was your favorite piece of playground equipment as a child? swings...still is.

4. Do you prefer a sweet or hearty breakfast? a not-to-sweet coffee and a mini-cinnamon raisin bagel...or a scone. I guess I prefer not-hearty-but-not-too-sweet.

5. Are you a Neat Freak or a Messy Bessy? By nature, I'm a neat freak...but since I have two children under 5 and a husband who like to lay things down where ever the notion strikes him, I'm a frustrated neat freak in a messy bessy world. I feel like I'm forever picking up and straightening up and putting away only to turn around and see new piles of things forming in the neat path I've left behind...such is life.

Peace, ya'll!

This is me...

the bumble bee

by Marybeth Fidler

a bumblebee flies into my apartment
it didn't mean to be there
--it panics
and seeing the outside through a glass window
it proceeds to push and push against the glass trying to get where it wants to go
in its panic never moving from its task long enough
to see the open window just inches away

how like the bumble bee I am in my work or my life
i see where i want to go
and in my panic
i forget to look for the open window

so i push and push and push
thinking i should be rewarded for all this hard work
when, in fact, i am so frantic
like the bee against the glass.

Monday Muse - Little Green Ducks

I found this image on the Hostess with the Mostest Blog

Amazing stuff here for inspiration…

Though attaining such high entertainment standards might be a little much…I could see myself using many of the amazing ideas and products I found on this blog…another to add to my fantastic bloggy collection.

So anyway…I love the GREEN rubber ducky…I’m thinking from an inspiration standpoint, it’s a familiar object in a different color. What do you have that is familiar that might be totally unique if you made it a different color? Like walls painted with chalkboard paint or your front yard sculpture painted purple…something familiar, but different.

I also love the angle of this photo. How would your art change if you just tilted it, adjusted the angels for a different perspective.

And the ducks…seriously SO CUTE! These are so super cute..yet…they are sophisticated, no? They are so seriously upscale…what sort of thing is normally a very common or cute object that could be made upscale by a change in presentation?

All good things to think about…

What would you do with this muse?

Peace, ya’ll!

Amazing News!!!

On Friday, I was SO EXCITED and SURPRISED to get a phone call from Rachel at Scrapbooking From the Inside Out. I took a chance a couple of weeks ago and decided to submit for their design team...AND I MADE IT!! I'm SOOOOOOO EXITED!

Rachel says:

I'm here to remind you that you matter, too! Your story needs to be told by you, both for you as well as for future generations. One of the most important gifts you can give your children is the gift of you-who you truly are and what you think and feel.

And most importantly, in the process of telling your story, in all its beauty and depth, its glorious times, messy moments, and painful lessons, you will be transformed.

The new team has some unbelievable talent! Check out these great designers:

Amy Oxford
Aymee Gandy
Arlene Camacho
Crystal (Pinky)Hobbs
Diana Kennedy
Melissa Elsner
Shaina Longstreet

And, of course, a lady I refer to often here:

Nancy Doren

How amazing! I'm so excited to get to be a part of this amazing team of women! I simply cannot wait to see what sort of great things come out of this adventure!!!

PEACE, ya'll!!

Five Question Friday

Its time for Five Question Friday . Are you aready?

1. Do you have an iPhone and, if so, how do you get apps and what are your favorites?

Don’t have one…I’m a Blackberry girl…and I LOVE it. I’m looking forward to maybe getting a new Blackberry…I really love the color of this one – smoky violet…mmmmmmm:

2. What is your fondest memory of K-3rd grade?

It would have to be a toss up…playing kick ball here:

Or having a giant cinnamon roll with hot chocolate on a Saturday morning here:

3. What makes you cringe at the thought of touching?

I don’t like having to put my hand down the garbage disposal…I have the whole safety switch and all, but I keep thinking of all those horror movies I watched when I was a kid.

4. If you could have any celebrity show up on your doorstep who would it be and why?

This one:

Why? I'd want to jam...

5. What would you say is your best physical feature?

My….eyes? No…maybe my hair. I don’t have to do much and it always looks good no matter how badly I mistreat it.

Happy Friday Everyone!

Peace, ya'll!!

Consider This...

Remember when I introduced you to Patti Digh?

Her daughter Emma is going to be graduating and Patti has been gathering the most amazing advice to give to Emma as a collection. In her words:

I am gathering wisdom from the far corners of the earth to give my older daughter, Emma, as she graduates from high school. What would you say to her? Or to your own 17-year-old self? What thoughts would you ask her to consider? You can submit your advice and 37 of those will be posted over the next 37 days, one each day, culminating in a free e-book of all the submissions after her graduation on June 14th.

There are so many things I wish I could go back and tell my 18 year old self...So I sent in some of the things on my list of "so many." I've been following along and just absorbing the beautiful writing like a sponge...my inner 18 year old keeps nodding its head and saying "yep! Oh yea! Good one!"

Imagine my surprise to find my own submission among the 37 she has chosen! I feel so blessed!

I know from reading all of the amazing things that have been written that Emma will be given a remarkable collection. What an amazing mom to give her such a touching gift! Don't you wish you had gotten something similar?

Go on over to Patti's blog and read them all. You will want to print them all out and hang them on the wall.

You can submit some advise of your own if you wish...the instructions are HERE.

Peace, ya'll!

Oh, No she DI-int!!!

Yes…she did…wellllll…actually TWO of them did it…

April who has a Fabbo blog mostly dedicated to the life and times of a mom of three boys (and all the hilarity that goes with THAT endeavor) tagged my friend Mary…

Mary who has another fabbo blog dedicated to being a green girl and the queen of altered objects, with a little oh-so-this-is-what-it-means-to-be-a-hip-and hot-grandma thrown in, has tagged ME!!!

And the tag?  Answer HER 10 question…

Here’s what she tagged me with:

1)  What is your favorite pie? – My favorite pie is something that I don’t think is made anymore…it was on the menu at Coco’s Restaurants. Chocolate Truffle Silk Pie…yup…chocolate, chocolate, chocolate…YUM!

2)  If you could be a movie star, which one would you be? – Hmmmm…good question…Today, I’m thinking it would be Meg Ryan. I love her movies…and until recently, her reputation.  BUT this could change…I might have a different answer tomorrow.

3)  What is your dream job and why? My dream job is SAHMS…or Stay At Home Mom Scrapbooker…I believe that this adequately combines my greatest passions – my kids and the stories of our lives. If I was younger, I would have said “rock star” but I am not currently convinced I could be a good  mom and a rock star.

4)  What talent do you have that most people don't know about? I am an unbelievably great dancer...:-)

5)  What is the nicest thing anyone ever said to you? – “You have a voice like an angel.” Followed closesly by “You look really pretty mommy!”

6)  Besides world peace, what do you wish for? – See the question above about my dream job.

7)  What is the most important thing your parents taught you? To work really hard for what I wanted and what I believe in. I don’t believe in the lottery or get-rich-quick schemes. I don’t believe that success falls in your lap or that it just “happens.” I CERTAINLY don’t believe we can sit around and wish and hope that God will BLESS us with riches just because. I don’t believe in the prosperity Gospel. I believe God gives us direction and then says “Go”! He honors those who honor HIM and that the best way we can honor Him is to get OUT into the world and really put some sweat behind our words. The Bible says not just to be hearers of the Word, but also DOERS! It also says that it is appointed to men to TOIL! God doesn’t mean for us to escape the rigors of work and live cushy lifestyles shut away from one another in our air-conditioned homes. He means for us to work and to share the blessings of that work with those less fortunate than ourselves.  What a concept…

8)  What is your favorite herb? – My Uncle Herb...he's my mom's brother and he plays a mean game of Uno.

9)  What is your favorite Dr. Seuss character? –  Cindy Lou Who FOR SURE!

10)  How ticked are you that I tagged you with these questions? LOL. Not at all…I needed to do something fun today!

Now, I get to tag seven (7) bloggers with 10 questions of my own…let me see….

I tag:

Sharyn Carlson - AMAZING scrapbooker with lots of fun ideas
Enjoy the Ride - Another awesome scrappy blog.
Samantha Widlund - A very interesting blog about scrapbooking, raising kids, gardening, food...oh, just all sorts of good stuff!
Nancy Doren - AMAZING scrapbooker with lots of artistic insight, great taste in music and super fun posts about art in real life.
Meghann - Really great scrappy goodness.
Rachel - Fabulous blog with amazing writing. Best thing about this girl? She's TRANSPARENT!  LOVE IT!
Elizabeth - (Who also happens to be the founder of Bloom Project, a foundation for adoption)

And here, my tagged bloggers,  are your 10 Questions:

1 -  What MUST you wear for your weekend-kicking-around-clothes?

2 - What is your “quote” for life?

3 - If you knew your next meal would be your last, what would you eat?

4 - What do you think is the greatest invention of our time?

5 - You have one day of uninterrupted time alone. What will you do?

6 - The beach, the mountains, the desert, the farm country – all are just 30 minutes from you.  Which way will you go?  Why?

7 - This one’s important, now:  Coke or Pepsi?

8 - What do you think it would be super fun to dress up as for a costume party or Halloween?

9 - What absolutely, positively HAS to be on your i-pod (or radio, or mp3 or CD player, or whatever)?

10 - Its sports day at school….who’s Jersey are you wearing?

Now, my 7 scrappers, go answer your questions on your own little bloggy. Then think of 10 questions of your own and tag 7 more bloggers to give you exciting answers!!! Don’t forget to pop back here and leave a comment linking us up to your answers!!
